It usually happens, when you see other people yawn, and there will be the urge feeling to do the same. The other theory is when your body doesn’t get enough oxygen supply. Your brain tells your mouth to open wider and lungs to take lot of air to get enough oxygen that your body needs. Other theory said that yawning is needed, to relax our brain and relieve stress. We never said that those theories are wrong. However, there is some interesting theory that has been researched by scientist from State University of New York.

Dr. Andrew Gallup, assistant professor of psychology from State University of New York is one of the scientists that research about relation between yawning and brain temperature. He said that our brain is very sensitive to overheating. So, when the 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit, which is the normal temperature of brain, has been exceeded, it needs to cool it down. And, these scientists believe that yawning is the method to decrease the temperature. This research is also involving 120 people as subject and the scientist found that most of subject yawn a lot on summer, when the weather is hot. And, they yawn less on winter. This is one of most interesting theory, because, we can see it happen a lot around us. For example, someone who is going to make speech or someone who want to perform in front of many people, their stress level will increase. It makes the brain work harder, which is increasing its temperature. Therefore, many people who are going to do those activities, usually, yawn a lot.
But, once again, the brain cooling theory doesn’t explain why yawn occurs. Many scientist believe that yawning involve many aspect, including chemical reaction inside the brain, the psychological and environment aspect. How these aspects affected one and each other is still unexplained until today. The most interesting thing is all vertebrate or animals with back bone also did it. They yawn a lot, and even some scientist believes that yawing is one of method to unite the group of that animal species.
